Netanyahu Compares Trump To King Cyrus Of Persia. Does The Bible Make This Same Connection?

Yes.

In fact, now that we’ve entered into a new era in Biblical prophecy and we’ve begun a unique, improved relationship that Israel will share with all of her Middle East neighbors, one of the next big events to take place will be the reconstruction of the 3rd Temple in Jerusalem.  When Benjamin Netanyahu described the importance of President Trump to that of ancient King Cyrus of Persia, it is because the Biblical parallels are significant.  You can read Netanyahu’s comments here.

The reason that the Israeli Prime Minister used that analogy was because the last time the Temple was built in Jerusalem, it was due to a decree from King Cyrus that it be done, as recorded in both the books of Ezra and 2 Chronicles.

Ezra 1:1–“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,  Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, Yahweh Elohim of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and HE HATH CHARGED ME TO BUILD HIM AN HOUSE AT JERUSALEM, which is in Judah.”

2 Chron. 36:22–“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Yahweh spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,  23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath Yahweh Elohim of heaven given me; and HE HATH CHARGED ME TO BUILD HIM AN HOUSE IN JERUSALEM, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? Yahweh his Elohim be with him, and let him go up.”

Last December 7th, President Trump announced that the U.S. would relocate their embassy to Jerusalem and the date of its opening will be next month, on May 14th, to coincide with Israel’s 70th anniversary since their Declaration of Independence in 1948. Until that announcement, virtually no other nation on earth officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, even though it’s the site of Israel’s national government.  But now that we’ve begun a new era in prophecy, look at what’s happened next.

Immediately after Trump’s speech in Israel, the Czech Republic also expressed their intent to move their embassy to Jerusalem.  This was followed by Hungary, Romania and the Philippines.  Next came Paraguay and Slovakia.

Other nations have now joined this effort, such as Honduras and Guatemala. Soon after the U.S. announced their intention to move their embassy to Jerusalem, the United Nations held a vote to condemn that move.  When the votes were tallied, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, and Togo voted against the resolution condemning the US.  It may be just a matter of time before they too decide to move their embassies to Jerusalem.  We now have over a dozen nations that have suddenly recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.  As I’ve written on this blog, none of this is random.  It is happening because it was prophesied to happen at that very place and at this very time.

Now, there is much buzz throughout Israel that this long sought for Temple project may actually begin.  But all of that buzz pertains to a new construction project upon the site of Solomon’s Temple, which is the Temple Mount location.

However, that is NOT where the Bible says the 3rd Temple will be constructed!  Instead, it will be built on the Mount of Olives, which lies just to the east of the Temple Mount.  How do we know this?  We just have to read–and accept–what the prophet Isaiah wrote.

Isa. 2:2–“And it shall come to pass IN THE LAST DAYS, that the mountain of Yahweh’s house shall be established IN THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAINS, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.”

This verse is LOADED with information that most readers just gloss over without giving it a second thought.  First, the reference to the last days clearly defines our generation, or the “buffer” generation that exists as an extra period of time between the first 6,000 years of man’s rule on earth and the upcoming 1,000 years of Yahshua’s rule after his second return.  I’ve described that event in detail on an earlier post here.

Secondly, it says that it will be “established” in the TOP of the mountains.  Both parts of this expression carry significant weight.  The Temple will not be the 1st nor the 2nd Temple in Jerusalem.  It will be the THIRD.  Please notice what this verse does NOT say.  It does NOT say that the Temple will be RE-ESTABLISHED, does it?  The Hebrew word that Isaiah used in this context was the word מְבוּסָס or “kuwn”, literally meaning “established”.  It is absurd to imagine that the Temple will FINALLY be “established” in the near future, because two previous Temples had already been established there.  The most recent one, which was destroyed in 70 A.D., stood for over 500 years.  Clearly, if Isaiah had intended to convey the thought that ANOTHER Temple would be built on the same site, he would have used the Hebrew word מחדש –literally meaning “reestablished”.  As you can see, this is totally different from the word he intentionally wrote.  It’s no accident that he wrote “established” because the new Temple will be built where no other Temple had ever existed before.

Did Isaiah misspeak?  Did the translators make a mistake?  Or, did Isaiah express exactly what he wanted to say, but we’ve been ignorant to his meaning for all these years?

Isaiah did not write the wrong word.  The translators did not get it wrong.  Therefore, we can conclude that when Isaiah says that the Temple will be established, it is describing a completely different location as the former two Temples.  And, the clever reader will also notice that Isaiah actually pinpointed the exact location of this future Temple.  It’s to be built IN THE TOP of the mountains.  Why is this significant?

The city of Jerusalem’s geography consists of seven peaks or mountains.  The Temple Mount is the 6th highest peak in the city.  The Mount of Olives is higher.  The Temple could not be in the TOP of the mountains if another mountain looks down on it.  Notice again at what Isaiah did NOT say.  Just as he did not say “re-established”, he also did not say “upon a high mountain”.  If that was the thought he intended to express, he would not have written “in the TOP of the mountains”.  Obviously, of those seven mountains, only one can be defined as being the TOP.  That is the Mount of Olives.

Also, when Isaiah wrote that the Temple would be “exalted above the hills”, he was not referring to all mountains in every country as some sort of metaphor.  This expression was specifically addressing the seven hills that comprise the topography of Jerusalem itself.  If the 3rd Temple were to be “re-established” on a lower hill such as the Temple Mount, then Isaiah’s words are false.  The only hill that fits this description is the Mount of Olives.

But is this the only passage in scripture that pinpoints the location of the upcoming Temple?  If you re-read the two passages from Ezra and 2 Chron., you’ll note one more important clue.  Each time Cyrus made his proclamation, is was due to the mouth of Jeremiah.  What does the prophet Jeremiah have to say about the location of this latter day Temple?

Jer. 31:12–“Therefore they shall come and sing IN THE HEIGHT OF ZION, and shall flow together to the goodness of Yahweh, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.”

This passage is a description of the latter days when Israel is restored as a nation.  And, the “height of Zion” is a metaphor for “going to the Temple”.  Jeremiah makes this clear earlier in this same chapter:

Jer. 31:6–“For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and LET US GO UP TO ZION unto Yahweh our Elohim.”  When people “go up” to Zion, they’re going up to where Yahweh is living.  This is a specific description of “going up to the Temple”

Once again, read carefully what Jeremiah does NOT say.  Like Isaiah, he does not say that people shall sing in “a” height of Zion.  He said that they sing in THE height of Zion.  This location can only be descriptive of the Mount of Olives, as all other geographic locations are downhill from it.  Both books of prophecy provide, with pinpoint accuracy, the location of this upcoming Temple.

Soon, this will become common knowledge in Israel and when it does, the shorter peak called the Temple Mount, which generations of people have fought for and bled over for thousands of years, will suddenly become less significant than the Mount of Olives.  This won’t be the moment where the strife ends.  That is already history.  THIS will be the moment when the world rejoices and a new fervor to learn the truth of the Bible will take hold of the entire world.

Just for fun….  the book of Ezra describes the exact date that the 2nd Temple was completed:

Ezra 6:15–“And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

IF (and I’m not stating this as a fact) the Temple takes the same seven years to construct as the original Temple and it must be completed prior to the arrival of Yahshua, it also must be built for the Anti Messiah to falsely sit on the throne as an abomination, if construction begins in 2024, 3 Adar, 5791 equates to February 26, 2031.  If construction starts the following year, in 2025, 3 Adar, becomes February 15, 2032.  This will be very interesting to watch as those dates loom larger in the near future.
