In the recent past, I have seen more and more stories related to this phenomena, such as this story: Here. It got me wondering whether this potential reversal of the poles could explain something I’ve read in Isaiah. More on that in a moment.
Throughout my lifetime, I’ve read/seen various prophecies that are identified in the Bible and many of them are self-evident of what’s being foretold. Many others are too vague and open-ended, leaving the reader with questions as to exactly when a specific prophecy will be fulfilled. As a rule, only about 10% of all Biblical prophecies have occurred. The remaining 90% will all be packed into this generation and especially the final 7 years leading up to the arrival of Yahshua Anointed.
Case in point: in the Book of Isaiah, ch. 14:1, it reads “For Yahweh will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.” This verse is no longer prophecy because it describes a time when Israel will return to her own land. This event already occurred on May 14, 1948 after the end of WWII. Although, the House of Jacob–a clear reference to the Temple–has not yet occurred, so that portion is still a prophecy yet to come.
But other prophecies were fulfilled nearly 2,000 years prior to this one. Take, for example, the prophecy about Yahshua’s execution around 30 A.D., as foretold in Psalms 22:13–“They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. 16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.”
Without a doubt, this prophecy describes, in graphic detail, the circumstances surrounding the crucifixion of Yahshua Anointed, which occurred over 500 years after these words were written. After the actual execution, Matthew validated the words of Isaiah here–
Matt. 27:35–And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, [Isaiah], They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
Now, regarding the idea of a polar flip, the scientist in the video of the link above said the last known polar flip occurred 780,000 years ago, but it “normally” occurs every 300,000 years. When it happens, magnetic north will point directly at the south pole and what we’ve always used as “north” will suddenly be due south. The catastrophic fallout would be beyond imagination. Our electronic grid would come to a halt. Navigation for both aviation and maritime would be affected, including the internal compasses of creatures like turtles and migratory birds. Worse, without the necessary magnetic shield to protect us from space radiation, human life as we know it could be in jeopardy.
And if anybody doubts the legitimacy of these scientists’ time-table of ancient events because you believe that all of creation was done in just 7 actual 24-hour days, you’re welcome to see a couple earlier posts where I use the Bible to completely rebut that argument here and here. You may be shocked to discover that the earth has existed for millions or billions of years, as described by none other than Moses himself.
Now, about that prophecy in Isaiah. It’s found in the entirety of chapter 24. For most of my life, I read this chapter as if it was metaphor for something else. I had never taken the words literally. As we read Isaiah’s prophecy, you’ll understand why I originally thought so.
Isa. 24:1–“Behold, Yahweh maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.”
The Hebrew text describes “making the earth empty” as “making void the land and evacuating her”. Clearly, he’s referring to humanity and something so catastrophic that entire populations will be suddenly forced to leave their homes and seek asylum elsewhere…but where? And what could Isaiah possibly be referring to when he says the earth “turneth it upside down”?
As we look back on history, there has never been any world event that could fit this description. But, as we look forward towards the next 1,000 year rule of our elder brother, Yahshua Anointed, there’s NO way that this prophecy can pertain to that peaceful period. It can only be identifying some time in the near future and our generation.
Isa. 24:3–“The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for Yahweh hath spoken this word. 4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.”
Amplifying these words, again the Hebrew text provides greater context. It describes the earth as “being plundered”, rather than “languishing”. The earth’s treasure can only be plundered by someone taking property away from someone else. Who? What property? V. 4 says the earth will “fade away”, but the Hebrew equivalent is “decay”.
Isaiah makes it clear why Yahweh will bring this punishment upon the inhabitants of the earth in verse 5: “…because they have transgressed the laws….”, a clear reference to both the 10 Commandments as well as a more broad description of Law, as originally interpreted to mean the entirety of the Old Testament.
But the language of verse 6 is what gave me pause to wonder whether today’s news story could pertain to an ACTUAL moment that the earth is “turned upside down”!
If the scientists are correct in their assessment and the magnetic shield which surrounds the earth could become weakened and defenseless against solar ratiation…is THIS what Isaiah is describing about the earth’s inhabitants being burned? It gets worse.
24:10–“The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. 11 There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. 12 In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.”
Hebrew translations go a step further. It describes total chaos as every person locks themselves inside their houses. “Mirth” is identifies as “rejoicing” and “elation”. All happiness will cease. As we move ahead in chapter 24, the following verse needs greater explanation:
19 “The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.”
Here is the exact Hebrew text: 19 כדור הארץ מתפרק לחלוטין, כדור הארץ נקי מומס, כדור הארץ מועבר מאוד.
Translation: “To-smash she-smashes-herself the-earth to-quash she-quashes-herself earth to-slip she-slips earth”
Smashes? This is very different from “broken down”, which sounds like you’d need a replacement part to fix something. No, for the earth to be smashed, it implies blunt force and physical objects getting destroyed, a far cry from “broken down”.
Finally, the reason for today’s post, we arrive at the climax in verse 20.
20 “The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.”
In Hebrew: האדמה תגלגל הלוך ושוב כמו שתיין, ותוסר כמו קוטג’; והעברתה תהיה כבדה עליה; והיא תיפול, ולא תקום שוב.
Translation: “To-sway she-shall-sway earth as-the-drunken-one and she-shakes as-the-lodge and-he-is-heavy on-her transgression-of-her and-she-falls and-not she-shall-proceed to-rise-of”
Is THIS what will happen if the earth’s poles flip?
Obviously, you cannot “remove” the earth from the heavens, but what if Isaiah means that the earth will be removed from her former magnetic coordinates and suddenly, all compasses will point North…and be directly facing Antarctica?! The description of it reeling to and fro like a drunkard…have you ever played with magnets and felt the actual force when you attempted to push two positive ends towards each other? For a moment, each magnet jerks left and right, fighting the incompatible identical magnetic field (like a drunkard?), then finally one magnet immediately spins and the reverse end strongly connects so that a positive end adheres to a negative end.
While the earth is, in fact, a gigantic magnet, it could not do an actual “flip”. Today’s maps show the polar north with its longitude and latitude lines and those will still exist. But mass confusion will suddenly become the norm when every method of establishing direction is obsolete.
This prophecy is destined to occur prior to the arrival of Yahshua Anointed in the near future. We also know that many millions of people will perish on earth from various causes–some at the hands of the Anti-Messiah, False Prophet and the Beast–others due to natural catastrophes. This is the reason to keep the Father’s name, Yahweh, close to your heart as that is our key to salvation, both in the dire events left to come on earth as well as the life to come in the 1,000 year millennium just around the corner where Yahshua Anointed will rule the earth.
You’ll notice, there are three more verses to chapter 24 in the book of Isaiah, but those do not pertain to the calamitous events prophesied earlier. For reference, here are the final 3 verses:
Isa. 24:21–“And it shall come to pass in that day, that Yahweh shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. 23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when Yahweh of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.”
For those unfamiliar with a literary tool that’s found throughout scripture, often the author ends one thought and begins an entirely different thought AND an entirely different time period, without informing the reader that he’s done it. It’s what Isaiah has done here. These last three verses have nothing to do with the earth/drunkard scenario that preceded them. How do we know that? Easy–we can identify “the day” that Yahweh will punish the “high ones” and his fellow antagonists and THAT day is described in the book of Revelation. Who are the “high ones” and their “kings”?
Rev. 12: 9–“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
These are the individuals that Isaiah is talking about in his usage of the words “high ones and kings of the earth”. He’s speaking about Satan and his host of angels that have been wrecking havoc on the earth for 6,000 years. It is THESE persons who will be bound together in a prison and after MANY DAYS [i.e.: 1,000 years], they’ll be visited [freed from prison for a brief time].
Rev. 20:9–“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,”
Yes, 1,000 years is the time period that Isaiah refers to when he uses the understatement “many days” in his prophecy.
The final validation that these final three verses pertain to a different moment than the previous 20 verses is found in verse 23, where the moon shall be confounded and the sun ashamed…. We already know exactly when this will take place, here:
Rev. 21:23–And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of Elohim did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
This event occurs at the end of the 1,000 year millennium when Yahweh returns to earth as Yahshua transfers rulership to his/our Father. Those final three verses are a reinforcement of the victory that Yahshua and Yahweh will enjoy in the future, and they’re inserted into the conclusion of Isa. 24 as a way to give us hope on the promise of salvation. They aren’t a continuation of a thought found throughout the rest of chapter 24.
But anyone unfamiliar with the literary tool I described above, will conclude that the “high one and kings of the earth” must be talking about human beings who will be punished. They will likewise conclude that “in that day” is a sequential event which will immediately follow the earth reeling to and fro.
It’s an entirely different day, separated by over 1,000 years.
Still, I’m going to pay close attention to the wanderings of that befuddled magnetic north.
